My dream came true!

posted in: Uncategorized

I disappeared for a few days – I was getting ready for an interview (which are hard to come by these days), among other things. Anyway, I just had to brag show y’all (I’m from Texas, I can say that) my new bookshelves! They are nothing fancy, but I finally have all my books in the living room with a few of my favorite tchotchke, and I still have room to grow!

I’m still debating an e-reader, so I may not need room for more books. I did go through these books and put together a box of books that I’ll donate. I tried to keep books that I really enjoyed and that are meaningful. There are a few in there that I haven’t read yet.

Yep. I MIGHT have a book shopping problem – as in I buy more than I can read at a time. I’m trying to use the library more often, but the only bad thing about that is that I like to (GASP!) dog-ear the pages.

So what’s more weird – that I have a ton of books, or that (save for a few sections) I organized them by color?

I had to buy a Kindle to save room. My bookshelf is CAVING from the weight of the books! I love it when people organize by color, but I can’t seem to do that with mine… mostly because I like having them clustered by genre than color :). My folklore section is a bit hefty, whoo! Maybe I am not helping your habit because I think both actions are normal, ha!

My last apartment had a built in book shelf, which I loved. Unfortunately, I don’t have any book shelves now (living with the family again) and my books are now in the basement. I have a ton of books with no room to put them. Before my last move, I also had to go through my stash and donate the ones that I didn’t quite need anymore (it was heartbreaking). When you have a hobby though, sometimes you can’t help to buy even if you don’t have any room. I had to stop visiting the bookstores for this reason, because I would walk out with at least five new titles. By-the-way, this also happens to me with fabric. Lol. Sometimes I can’t help myself. Today, I went to Joann’s with my mother, and found myself in the knit fabric section. I was tempted to buy but remembered I had like three piles of fabric in the basement that I needed to use first. Hahaha. Books…fabric….darn these hobbies! 😉
